Course Description
This fully online course is specifically designed for individuals involved in community-based coaching roles within the Australian sports industry, including both volunteers and professionals.
It equips participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to effectively prepare athletes and teams for sports competitions.
The course covers key areas such as researching and selecting appropriate competition opportunities, developing tailored competition strategies, and providing comprehensive pre-competition information to athletes.
Additionally, learners will gain an understanding of how to access and coordinate support staff and resources to enhance athlete performance and wellbeing during competitions.

Course Format & Duration
The online learning and assessment is expected to take approximately 4 hours to complete. These timeframes are estimates. Individuals with prior experience in similar training may complete the course in less time, while those new to the subject may need more time to complete all the learning content and assessment questions.
This course is delivered fully online and will be self-paced. Students are expected to complete this course within six (6) months after enrolment.
Entry Requirements
An individual enrolling in this course with Allens Training Pty Ltd must demonstrate the following criteria to be eligible for entry:
1. As a registered training organisation (RTO), delivering nationally recognised training, we must verify a student's identity before undertaking the assessment. To meet this requirement, you will be required to show your photo identification to the camera and state your full name, as listed on your identification document.
2. Must meet English and LLN requirements. The Training Package clearly states:
The unit requires foundational skills such as reading, oral communication, numeracy, problem-solving, and self-management.
3. Students must have access to a device with camera and audio recording capabilities, such as a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam. This device will be necessary for creating short videos as part of the assessment, in which students verbally explain the required assessment outcomes.
Assessment Requirements
Practical assessment:
Planning and preparing a participant for sport competition
Supporting a participant in a sport competition
Reflecting on preparing participant for a sport competition
Students are required to upload one (1) video of themselves participating in simulated scenarios of a coaching reflection
Theory assessment:
A written assessment consisting of case studies and multiple-choice questions
Please note: You will be required to make one (1) video of yourself, verbally explaining the required assessment outcome. If you do not wish to complete video assessment questions, please consider an alternative mode of delivery (eg online with face-to-face assessment).
